WJ Group Strengthens Clean Power Platform with Sunstone Acquisition.

Delivering Clean Power and Advanced Surveillance Across Key Sectors.

WJ Group, the UK’s leading road marking and highway safety business, has acquired Sunstone IP Systems Ltd. Sunstone is a sustainable technology company specialising in solar-powered surveillance and communications platforms. This strategic move expands WJ Group’s clean power capabilities while supporting decarbonisation goals across Highways, Security, Rail, Construction, Oil & Gas, and Defence.

Expanding Intelligent Traffic Solutions.

WJ Sunstone, the new brand for Sunstone Systems, delivers innovative, award-winning products such as the Solar CCTV System (SICS). This solution provides surveillance and data transmission in off-grid locations. Moreover, the acquisition strengthens WJ Group’s Intelligent Traffic Solutions (ITS) business. As a result, clients now gain access to comprehensive, energy-efficient monitoring and security systems.

Innovative Clean Power Products.

WJ Sunstone’s portfolio now includes the Autonomous Remote Communications System (ARC), Solar and HVO Power Stations, and the IO System. These platforms offer rapidly deployable, cost-effective communications and site security. Consequently, they meet the rising demand for clean energy alternatives to conventional power sources.

Commitment to Sustainability and Innovation.

Wayne Johnston, CEO and founder of WJ Group, commented: “Acquiring Sunstone Systems marks a significant milestone in our mission to create safe, sustainable journeys for everyone. WJ Sunstone will enhance our Intelligent Traffic Solutions offering, allowing us to address a broader range of challenges across highways and beyond. The innovation and collaboration Sunstone brings to surveillance and communication technologies aligns perfectly with our values of safety, delivery, innovation and community. We are delighted to welcome the Sunstone team into the WJ family.”

Proven Integration Into UK Networks.

WJ has already integrated Sunstone’s solar-powered generators and CCTV systems into the UK highway network. These systems are recognised as market leaders in performance and reliability. Furthermore, the combined capabilities will be supported by WJ Group’s dedicated Control Centre in Stoke-on-Trent. This ensures rapid deployment and robust nationwide client support.

Stronger Together.

Simon Legrand, from WJ Sunstone, added: “Joining forces with WJ gives us unparalleled reach and capacity. With WJ’s national infrastructure, extensive resources, and trained operatives across the UK, we are in a stronger position to deliver our clean power platforms for highways, security, and many other sectors. We’re excited to leverage these capabilities to enhance our services to clients and meet the growing demand for sustainable off-grid solutions.
