The RAFT System
The Rapid Autonomous Frontier Technology (RAFT) System by WJ Sunstone is a state-of-the-art solution engineered for deployment in remote and challenging environments. This self-sustaining system integrates a durable enclosure, an efficient Internal Control and Power Management System (ICPMS), a reliable battery configuration, modular solar arrays, and an integrated IoT mast. Designed for rapid deployment without the need for groundworks, the RAFT System delivers essential IoT and communication technologies, enhancing surveillance and security across various remote locations.
Beyond its surveillance capabilities, the RAFT System serves as a renewable energy hub, providing clean, off-grid power to a diverse range of devices. In remote locations where traditional power sources are scarce, it effectively powers IoT sensors, radar systems, cameras, wireless communication equipment, and satellite connectivity terminals. This versatility makes the RAFT System an invaluable asset for maintaining operations in the most demanding settings.

Get in touch today >Solar-powered systems use solar panels to generate energy, ensuring continuous operation of communication equipment in remote or off-grid areas. The energy generated by the solar panels during the day are stored in the system batteries and then discharged to support the power needs of the attached sensors and telecommunications system. The camera sensors then supply the surveillance feed to our telecommunications device, which then relays the footage and alerts to the cloud for monitoring.
Our technologies reduce operational costs, minimise your carbon footprint and provide reliable operation in remote locations without grid dependency. This means that our technologies can be deployed quickly to where they are needed and for the duration required. Once the operational requirement is complete, then the systems can be either moved or decommissioned, making further savings against conventional hardwired systems.
Yes, even on cloudy days our systems will still capture irradiance, however this may not be at the same level as unimpeded irradiance. Our systems are designed to operate for extended periods during cloudy conditions and poor irradiance. In addition, each day we monitor power generation and consumption, to ensure uptime all year round.
Depending on the system, they are deployed onto level ground or concrete pad using our deployment trailer or HIAB and faced south, to maximise the generation of power from the sun. It is important to note that shading on the solar panels can have a detrimental effect on the capability to generate power, so we carefully deploy these systems to avoid any shading.
Yes, our systems can work seamlessly with existing security infrastructure. As our cameras and telecommunications systems are IP digital devices, we can integrate the cameras onto your existing Video Management Software (VMS) platform, which enables operators to remotely view and control the system.
Maintenance involves periodic cleaning of solar panels, checking battery health and ensuring the system is functioning properly. In addition, with agreement we can remotely monitor the system and assess performance, if required then we can deploy our maintenance team to support with these duties to ensure optimal performance.
We assess your location, power requirements and specific needs to recommend the best solution for your operational requirements. We do not believe in a one-size-fits-all all model, and your requirement may require specific camera technologies (i.e. PTZ, Bullet, Thermal Imaging etc) and telecommunication methods to where the footage is being monitored. We will work closely with you to ensure the solution is appropriately specified for your requirements and budget.
